Start to make prayer beautiful in your life.
One of our Workplace Prayer clients spent some years as an executive at one of the Big Four. He sometimes got text messages from the CEO, a household name.
In early 2022, he wrote about one of his projects...
Miraculous Healing
I appreciate that God answers prayers, even without a voiced request.
One of my favorite examples comes from a client who, unbeknownst to us, had been struggling to get pregnant. She was only 32, but was on the verge of being diagnosed with early menopause.
She and her husband were looking at doing in vitro fertilization, which would have cost around $25,000 out of pocket.
Bob and I had no idea. We prayed for her and her business.
I was once talking to a friend.
He told me about one of his clients, and how, during one of their meetings, the man mentioned that he hired young prostitutes in Las Vegas.
My friend said, “Why are you doing that? They are the age of your daughter!”
The client replied, “That’s what makes it good.”
I looked at my friend, stunned. I had no idea this was part of his workday … or anyone’s workday.
Workplace Prayer client Ross owns several hair salons. The day after he partnered with us, he wrote:
“I don't know if you guys started praying for me today, but I woke up early and felt compelled to pray for all of my managers in a ‘deep’ way, so … I’m giving you guys credit for starting that chain of events whether you earned it or not!
“It felt like Jesus woke me up and told me ‘this is what I want you to do’ and it was amazing! So ... thanks! (I think!).”
In February 2022, I had the privilege to meet Korina and Omar at a Heaven in Business conference. They had recently dedicated their business to God, and were trying to figure out what that meant.
They hired Workplace Prayer.
Eleven months later, Bob and I were in the middle of a prayer call when Korina sent me this message.
Each of us carries weight.
Not only our own griefs and challenges, but those of our loved ones. For those in the marketplace, we carry the weight of business, and the weight of clients and staff and vendors.
And we do this while seeing through a glass darkly. Sometimes it can be hard to know the right thing to do.
I find that on occasion I need to pray the burden-bearer prayer—sometimes almost daily!
When I first met Bob, he shocked me.
“Why would you pray if you didn’t expect it to work?”
What?!
I realized I had fit prayer into the box of “good Christian things that you do, but don’t necessarily expect results.”
One of our clients, Sonlight Curriculum, has been selling homeschool materials for more than 30 years.
When Covid first hit, they had an influx of new business, as parents needed a way to teach their children in the midst of massive upheaval in the school system.
But Sonlight sells physical products, and their physical space didn’t expand. How to manage to source, store, and ship all of the increase?
Prayer Training
In the spring of 2019, shortly after I ended my eight years without much praying, I went looking for examples of prayer by people who knew how to pray.
What did it look like to pray like Elijah, powerfully and effectively?
I checked YouTube, that tool for learning everything from how to make an omelet to how to lay concrete blocks for houses.
But I couldn’t find anything on prayer.
Organic farmer Gilbert Hintz prayed a beautiful prayer over the Workplace Prayer community in February 2022.
